Contributing to the creation of a recycling society. Kazuomi Kato, CEO
Consistently at the forefront of Japanese socioeconomic activity, the automobile is one of Japan's key industries. On the other side of the coin, however, the automobile produces waste in the form of more than four million scrap cars per year. Waste reduction, reso- urce-efficient production processes, and other measures are being called for to protect the global environment. With that aim in mind, there has been a scramble in recent years to develop rules that can underpin a recycling society.

To promote the establishment of a recycling society, the Automobile Recycling Law, which will come into force in January 2005, def- ines the roles of vehicle owners, those who take over and scrap retired vehicles, and automobile manufacturers.

Amidst these developments, Aoki Shouten, a leader in terms of tradition and technology in Japan's scrap industry, teamed up with Sojitz, a general trading company with a strong international network and managerial resources, to establish CRS Saitama Co., Ltd.

By operating a modernized, continuous in-line process from the taking over of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) through their scrapping to the supplying of reusable parts and materials, CRS Saitama is able to live in harmony with the natural environment and local comm- unities. We are proud to be putting into practice a cutting-edge, near-future operation, having broken away from the old-style scrap industry.
Setting CRS Saitama Apart
An expert automobile recycler that attends to every need
CRS Saitama is an end-of-life vehicle (ELV) recycling enterprise backed up by two solid companies: Aoki Shouten and Sojitz. Aoki Shouten, a scrap recycling expert engaged in the recovery of ferrous and nonferrous recourses, processing of scarp for recycling, and its distribution to each industry, boasts a fifty year track record of high repute. Sojitz, which was formed from the combination of Nichimen Shosha and Nissho Iwai, brings to the partnership an extensive network and strong managerial resources.

CRS Saitama’s vision is to develop a system that is both gentle on the environment and can meet every recycling demand, creating a scrap car operation suited to a new age in accord with the Automobile Recycling Law scheduled to come into force in January 2005. The age of mass production, mass consumption, and mass disposal has come to an end and is quickly being replaced by a so- ciety that reuses and recycles. Founded on a solid partnership with customers and society, CRS Saitama is contributing to the revit- alization of industry within this new recycling society.
A modernized, continuous in-line process in line with the Automobile Recycling Law
The Automobile Recycling Law clarifies the roles of businesses engaged in each step in the recycling process to ensure the proper and efficient recycling and processing of ELVs to prevent the development of new environmental problems. These steps include (1) the taking over of ELVs (registration system), (2) the recovery of chlorofluorocarbons (registration system), (3) scrapping (licensing system), and (4) shredding (licensing system). Businesses must register and received approval to conduct operations in each step.

By working through this procedure in a modernized, continuous in-line process, CRS Saitama is helping to greatly expanding the rec- ycling rate and meets the requests of the industry by supplying higher quality recyclable parts and steel-making resources.

Additionally, on top of managing data records on the receipt and delivery of ELVs and reporting electronic manifests (transferable reports) to the information management center via the internet, CRS Saitama is devoted to making meticulous use of and maintain- ing computer networks.

On the factory line, all recyclable parts on ELVs taken over by CRS Saitama are carefully selected under the hard scrutiny of profe- ssionals and only those that meet our standards are removed.

CRS Saitama’s careful scrapping process is appreciated by customers looking for メhigh quality, low costモ used parts. Iron scrap is recycled to relevant manufactures as a raw material.
Sourcing from an inventory of one million parts at NPG Recycled Parts. Association affiliated stores
Officially licensed as a scrapper with the necessary environment for scrapping automobiles, the CRS Saitama factory methodically looks for and removes fully recyclable parts from acquired ELVs and provides them to the used parts market.

When unable to locate parts in its inventory for special-purpose vehicles and foreign cars, CRS Saitama will deliver the most suitable used part sourced from the million-part inventory of the NPG national network.
Offering environmentally-friendly and high quality material for steel making
ELVs contain many parts recyclable as resources. CRS Saitama dissembles the steel scrap and thoroughly separates ferrous and nonferrous metals after removing other parts. This processes yields high quality recyclable materials.
